If you are a grooving and grinding contractor, all in-the-field operators process slurry which is a necessary part of grinding operations as water is used to lubricate and cool the diamond cutters which is then collected for disposal in some way.
The same is true for ‘Hydro-vac’ excavation or fines from sand washing operations that also generate slurry for proper disposal.
Operators running ready mix concrete operations process slurry as well, each time a concrete mixer truck returns to the plant requiring washout.
Contractors must handle slurry disposal in an increasingly difficult regulatory environment, where fears of groundwater contamination have resulted in closure of past-used dump sites, such as disused quarries and at rubble recycling yards, resulting in the need to locate a permitted disposal site close to the operation or carry the expense of hauling the waste long distances with increased spill exposure and added dump fees.
The International Grooving & Grinding Association (IGGA) is the leading technical and promotional resource for acceptance and proper use of diamond grinding and grooving as well as pavement preservation/restoration.
